Monday, April 29th

I cannot believe this is the last full week of class.  The semester went by so quickly.  I am enjoying the presentations in Senior Seminar because I am intrigued by the information.  I never really thought about how creativity affects so many different aspects of one's life.  I liked Alexis's presentation on how creativity and ad's correlates.  How interesting an ad is really does effect how a person will remember it.  As she was talking, I started to remember the different advertisements I remember and it is because something in the ad was intriguing to me.
Last weekend,  I went to Boston and I walked where the bombings took place.  It was very eerie and it made me sad.  There were memorials to the individuals who got hurt and died.  There was a police officer there too.  The glass on the windows was still gone and the windows were boarded up.  I have seen so many different types of shirts and signs that say "Boston Strong".  The varieties of shirts are quite interesting.  For the Utica Boilermaker, I saw one that has Boston Strong written on the back and drawn in sweat marks next to it.  It sounds weird, but it was actually pretty cool.

April 18th, 2013

Its official, I am going to Northeastern University!  I am so glad my decision on graduate school is finally made.  Today, I had my presentation in Senior Seminar.  I think it went okay.  I learned a lot from doing my paper on a topic related to education.  What I learned will really help me in my future and it looks good that I did a paper like that.  Like I said before, I coach a softball team and we have had 3 games.  We played New Hartford yesterday and their design was very creative and it gave us ideas for our jerseys for next year.

April 10th, 2013

The past 2 years I have been the assistant coach for the softball team at Notre Dame.  My sister is on the team and I played in high school so I decided to help out.  Its always interesting to go to practices and games because the girls always have new stories for me.  I had to think of new drills that would benefit each of the girls.  I had to come up with drills that would help strengthen their weaknesses.  We had our first game yesterday and it did not go so well!
I got a letter saying I got into Psi Chi, which is the national honor society for psychology so I was happy about that.  I need to choose a graduate school by Friday, so I am nervous but ready to make the decision.  I have been making pro and con lists for each of my schools because I am still confused.  The main point I need to figure out is which school has the best opportunities for me.
For history of psychology, we had to write a paper about how 3 different psychologists would interpret a certain situation.  We had to write it as a round table discussion so I really had to be creative on this one!

April 4th, 2013

I really enjoyed making collages in Senior Seminar.  Before the class, I was apprehensive as to what I was going to make a collage of because I did not think I was very creative.  I surprised myself by how much I enjoyed making one.  I found myself become very relaxed and enjoying what I was doing.  I am too often in the closed state of mind and class made me in more of an open mind.  At first, I was making my collage to Also for Senior Seminar, we have to write a 10 page paper and mine is about creativity in the educational field.  I am really enjoying it and learning a lot that I can use in my own classroom someday.  I am learning about different activities to do to enhance the amount of creativity a child can express.
I can't believe there are only like five more weeks of school after this week!  I got accepted to three out of the four schools I applied to and will hopefully hear back from Emmanuel today.  I am excited!

Monday, April 1st

Well, last week was a great break from school work and the stress from classes.  For half the break I went to New York City and I loved it.  I did so much like go to the Statue of Liberty, see the 9/11 Memorial, and a lot of shopping.  I was amazed when I went to the 9/11 Memorial.  I had to go through so much security in order to even see the memorial.  I had to get my ticket checked at least three times and I also had to go through some metal detectors.  There were a lot of police there so it was kind of scary.  The whole memorial was great, but gave me an eerie feeling.  I also got to see the new towers they are making to replace the ones that fell.  It amazed me as to how much creativity, time, and effort is going into the buildings.  They are beautiful and are coming out great.  One of them is almost done and I couldn't help but stare at it.  Although I have been to Times Square a couple times, this time I wondered about how long it took people to come up with all those electronic ideas.  Times Square is full of light and color, which is very appealing to the eye.  It must have took a lot of creative minds to come up with all those ideas.  The people in New York City dress so much different than people in Boston and Utica do.  The people seem to be so much more into fashion and are not afraid to express themselves through their clothing.

Thursday, March 14th

Luckily, tomorrow is the last day of classes before break.  I cannot wait to be able to relax.  I am not going anywhere warm for break, but I am okay with that.  On Friday, I am going to Boston for a couple of days and from there I am going to New York City.  It should be a lot of fun!  Up to this point, I am doing well in my classes.  In my human ecology class we got our progress reports and I could not believe the curve he gave us.  The class average is a 50.  My average is a 60, which is the equivalent to a A-.
Senior Seminar class is really testing my creativity!  At first, I was nervous because I do not think I am a very creative person, but I ended up enjoying it.  If you give me an idea then I can be much more creative than sitting there with no ideas.  Today, we had to come up with a haiku.  The first emotions that I felt were anger that it was so nice out a couple days ago and today I had to wear boots and my winter jacket.  So, I wrote about the weather.

When is Spring coming?
The cold weather has me running.
To Florida I go.

I am not really going to Florida, but I would like to!  It was challenging to come up with lines with 5 or 7 syllables.  Most of the statements I wanted to make were more than what I needed.  Once I made my first one, it was easier to come up with more.  I had to get in a open mode and let everything else go.  Once I did that, I was able to relax and come up with ideas.

Thursday March 7th

Thank god next week is the last week before break.  I need a break!  Even though I am not going anywhere warm, I am ready for a week to relax and catch up with everything I have to do.  I did well on my History of Psychology test and paper, which made me happy because I have not been doing well in Human Ecology.  The average grade in Human Ecology is around a 50, which is unbelievable.  I really have to work hard, especially because I am not used to getting such low grades.  I enjoyed the exercise we did today in Senior Seminar.  At first, I got nervous because I had no idea what to draw!  Maybe that means I need to be in an open mode more often.  Once I relaxed and got in the right mind set, I seemed more creative than before.  I do not have a lot of talent when it comes to creativity, but I realized when I want to come up with creative ideas, I need to put myself in another mind set.
